Meet the Intel Atom based T500 MID from Tainell (pictured above), which is already
being reported as likely to end up being an available "only in China". It’s got great specs (for an x86 based MID) and it will be just as difficult to buy as every other MID on the market. Some in the media lately have been debating the difficulty in purchasing MIDs and so we’ve decided to find out exactly just how hard it really is to find a MID on the retail product shelves and have initiated our own MID Hunters Challenge.
Before we get to the challenge we’d thought that first we’d further irk you into action by showing off the T500 MID specs:

Our Inspiration:Unlike our more popular brethren in certain circles who seem to be able to hunt down a willing MILF every couple of days or so, we've found that our experience mirrors the complaints we've read on other sites such as
Arstechncica,
UMPCportal.com and
Gottabemobile.com. Its more difficult to spot an Atom based MID in the wild let alone on a product shelf where you can actually purchase one than finding Osama Bin Laden in an Afghan cave. Online it’s slightly easier to purchase a MID but to actually walk into a store and see one on the shelf for sale, pick it up, handle it, decide to buy it? No way.
The Challenge:Find an Intel Atom based MID of any brand on a retail shelf and take a picture of it including its price tag and win a fantastic Shanzai.com prize. Tell us where you found it. Easy peasy, you just have to be first into our email inbox.
The Fantastic Prize:Ultra stylish, memory sticks, limited edition, collectable, fun for the whole family. Sponsored by
OnTop.
How to Enter:Email us the pic and details to: info [that famous middle email symbol] shanzai.com. First one in our mailbox that looks passably real wins a memory stick. First one that looks totally shanzhaid wins 2 his and her memory sticks. If you don’t know what we mean by shanzhaid then you obviously don’t own a copy of Adobe Photoshop.
