When it comes to pirating trust the thoughtful pros

While cracked software in China is not news, the latest Microsoft Win 7 is going a step further than just providing a few bucks for shady software pirates. Apparently the cracked versions of the new OS are a bit harder for your average bear to install than previously and now “Professional Installed” versions of Win 7 has created a new business opportunity for some of the less reputable vendors in Beijing’s Zhongguancun market who are making about 3000 Yuan (USD 440) every 2 days. The service takes about 40 minutes per customer and the stores are servicing about 30 customers per day at a rate of 50 Yuan (USD 7) to 80 Yuan (USD11) for Win 7 Family edition.

Apparently the news reporter covering this story says about 80% of netbook venders they interviewed in the market were offering the service citing customer requests for upgrades to their Windows XP OS.

what's kind of ironic is that Microsoft has pulled their download version of Win 7 because they've been accused of improperly using some open source code to provide the download function... I guess when they use someone else's code its just borrowing :)
