Here at Shanzai.com we’ve seen plenty of iPhone clones coming out of China, but this one – the APhone A6 – is something a little different in that it runs Google’s Android OS. It’s not available yet, but a few details have been leaked and Chinese website k3bbs.com have even got their hands on a prototype and put together a video.
The phone has a 3.5” capacitive multi-touch display, dual core CPU, 2.0MP camera, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and of course all the Google goodies that come with the Android 1.5 operating system.
If you take a look at the video (clicking on the video takes you to a remote video hosting site) you’ll see a pretty good review of the button configurations, the coolest of which is the trackball under the display. The software doesn’t seem to be as responsive as it could be, but being a prototype, I’d expect this to improve.

Western Opportunity Analysis:
The iPhone clones we’ve covered so far are built around the ubiquitous MediaTek platform, which while offering decent functionality, certainly aren’t in the smartphone league. A device that takes the iPhone’s physical style, adds in Android’s functionality and sells at a “shanzhai”-level price is obviously going to be very popular in the West.
Conclusions:
The phone looks good at this stage. Stay tuned for more details and a review when the phone is released in Shenzhen.

I heard that they will have a model T9 soon based on Android 2.0 . That will be cool if they have this latest model on their website. Lets wait and see.
