Its turning into a bit of a running gag but when I do my long range hairy fairy prediction type articles I do the Zoltar crystal ball coin machine personae… which is weird in itself but even weirder on a tablet focused website is that Zoltar keeps predicting that tablets are NOT going to be around the industry for long.

Zoltar’s basically got this idea that eventually we’ll all be using reasonably large mobile phone computers and that tablets will disappear into the myriad screens surrounding us everywhere in our future daily life. Everything will have a screen whether it’s an appliance or a piece of furniture.

With all those screens around why would you need something that requires the effort of being carried (or toted) beyond the phone in your pocket?

Its seems Wired co-founder Kevin Kelly finds himself in the same frame of mind when he lists “Screening” as one of the 6 key verb for the next 20 years at the Web 2.0 Expo presently going on in San Fran.

"Screening — Kelly notes that whereas there used to be just the television screen and then the computer screen, now screens are everywhere. And increasingly, everything will be a screen — all surface. There will be a “one screen for all,” Kelly says."-Source

Kevin Kelly and Zoltar too… that’s enough evidence for me.

Last week one of the other main pillars of Zoltar’s argument was that we’d be moving to larger screened phones. Well as we reported here… the data is in and that’s already happening.
