Who’s zoomin’ who? Was the title used to name Aretha Franklen’s 1st Platinum record which basically, according to the Slangcity website, means “who is taking advantage of whom” and that exact phrase popped into my head as I saw what are purportedly the first pictures of HP’s forthcoming tablet.

Topaz as the 9” version is named (and pictured below) looks to me a whole lot like an overgrown iPhone 3G. Including the once piece rocker switch which seems to be there in the top left of the Topaz pic.  With all the Chinese manufacturers who have cranked out so many different looking tablets that we’ve reviewed, I find it funny that people usually only accuse the Chinese of shanzai’ing Western products and particularly Apple.

Iphone 3G back case

Apparently HP’s also got a smaller 7” version of the tablet named “Opal” which if it follows the same design as Topaz in only even more likely to look like a slightly over-sized iPhone 3G.

I grant you that most tablet designs aren’t that far off from each other since they’re mostly only screen and back plate, but in this case it must be obvious who HP’s zoomin. Which is not be of course confused with who Motorola is Xoomin.
