TESO iPad clone running Windows 7 on Intel's Pineview

Here are some more images of an iPad clone. Exactly which clone is unclear. It could be the Teso 10 inch iPad clone that has been spotted on various sites in the last few days, or it could be the EPad we covered yesterday. Then again they could be one and the same device with the EPad being the OEM version of the device offered to companies like TESO, or vice-versa.

My own guess however, is that we are simply looking at two of the first examples to use the latest of iPad-inspired components coming off the production lines of Shenzhen China. Either way one thing is abundantly clear - the shanzhai are gearing up to offer customers a tablet device that will satisfy all iPad-related cravings.

Details about these tablets are still thin on the ground but so far we know that the TESO device has almost identical specs to the EPad - minus a few tenths of inch, which is no clincher seeing as many manufacturers report rounded-up display sizes. They are pretty much identical to the eye in that they're both basically large scale iPhones. The EPad image in all fairness looks like it may well have had some Photoshop treatment, especially the reverse side and the oh so slightly off-center Apple logo.

Note the oh so slightly off-center Apple logo.

I reckon that the two devices we're dealing with here have in fact been developed in isolation, using turnkey components now coming off the production lines in Shenzhen. I'm talking about a new larger plastic mold developed for the chassis and a re-designed netbook board featuring the newer Intel Pineview silicon, both of which can easily be married to a ten inch screen. Different colors, storage options and even connectivity will be offered, but the basic layout, feature set and overall device design will be sorted at this point.

Conclusions:

Expect a splattering of iPad-inspired devices similar to this to begin popping up on every street corner from Hong Kong to Peking within the next few weeks or so.

These devices however will represent a first design phase, almost a stop-gap solution to the larger strategy. I expect x86 to make way for ARM and Windws 7 to be replaced by Android. Then we'll have some real iPad inspiration to shout about.

Stay tuned. We will of course endeavor to keep you abreast of these devices as they emerge. Interesting times lie ahead.
