Above: the 1 minute video explanation
Today Shanzai.com’s brand spanking new sister site Shanzai Studios has just formally announced Operation Tablet Bag a “Social Production” project. So what does that mean exactly?
Well Social Production is essentially the use of crowd power to let YOU.. yeah you, creatively produce cool new actual physical products, and Operation TBD (Tablet Bag Design … or maybe To Be Decided… by you?) is the first focused Social Production project to create a new type of carrying case for a brand new class of computing mobile devices… namely iPads and the myriad other tablets about to enter the market. How cool is that?!? ;)
It’s free and simple to participate in a Social Production project (see above video), you just need ideas (crazy or otherwise) and/or even opinions about others product concepts. In the end you might just be a key part of creating the coolest new accessory to hit the market for 2010. Go have fun and participate now!
the copiers are so lazy they cant even copy from their own ideas..now they ask the public to give them ideas how or what to copy..ha ha ..
@lewis in essence you are right. Many of these businesses haven't got the ability to do their own market research. So this solution provides them that aspect of business, and in turn the participants get more exactly the product they want at a good price.
i wont trade low quality (which these copied products are ) for low price. You can ship these shanzai products to countries/people who dont care about quality.

I can guarantee you the Tablet or iPad bags and accessories are made by these very same manufacturers that you are deriding... no matter what Western "quality" brand you see on the labels.
So in this case we think, why shouldn't @Lewis have his own brand, cool product at a reasonable price? Not everyone needs Steve Jobs to tell them what color their underwear should be now do they? :)
Almost anyone can make a bag..Im talking about electronics, IPAD not IPAD bag. My 10 year old niece can make a bag for her IPOD.. I might buy one from her but Ill never buy a copied IPAD or IPOD or IPhone or any original electronic of this type... I want the original even at a higher price if it has the quality. Shanzai bag is only a come on for the other copied electronics they make and fill the crap landfills all over the world.
Actually we're doing the Shanzhai Studios website and we're also a mixture of Western and Chinese. We're definitely going to be doing quality control, even on the bag product.
We're starting with a relatively simple product to iron out some of the kinks in the process and business model. But we're confident of building a quality product.
P.S. If you check out some of the early bag design ideas I guarantee a 10 year old wouldn't have thought of those features... but to be fair most bag manufactures designs a 10 year old could have!
P.P.S. yes the captcha image security on this comment system does suck sometimes!
I often contemplate what if suddenly net vanishes from our lifestyle. What will happen. Will life be exactly like it is? Cannot presume it mate this online world is within our viens now much like our blood which is out of the question to survive without one.

Is it worth the trade off? I think so.
