![]() Our trusted industry insider sources say that devices sporting Google’s much trumpeted Chrome OS will start to appear in mid October. Ergo the shanzhai players are bound to be out with devices shortly before or after that time period as well. Netbooks are the initial target category for the new OS but if it’s well received at all you can easily imagine, UMPCs or even tablets taking on the operating system. Where and how Chrome and Android will meet and overlap in products will be interesting to watch. I suspect Chrome will go just about into every product category (including smartbooks) and Android will remain on the phone.
