Is Apple waiting for Pixel Qi?

Pixel Qi if you recall is Mary Lou Jepson’s post OLPC start up for making very power efficient screen technologies. Screen technologies that would work well as an eBook reader or for typical PC and media applications. Screen technologies that would probably be perfect for an Apple tablet! Pixel Qi has been aiming for a mass production schedule of Q4 09, which is also when an Apple tablet might well arrive. Pixel Qi has also gone extremely quiet in the PR area, which would be odd for a company about to have their product go out, unless they are under some sort of Steve Jobsian gag order until after the table product launch. So what do you think, is Apple waiting for Pixel Qi?

I sure do hope so, as my immediate fantasy when I heard about pixel qi, was of a small apple netbook/ebook reader with a pixel qi screen. That would be a dream come true!

Timing, screen size, value proposition - all the pieces match in the equation. I would not be surprised if Apple would announce acquisition of Pixel Qi in near future - that would put it in a very unique position in eBook/Tablet markets.
