Android widget of the day: Today in history

This widget is for all those history fans out there that can’t seem to get enough of it … or for people who find themselves tongue tied and looking for a conversation opener!

The ‘Today in History’ widget is free on Android Market and you can install it using our guide. It requires Android version 2.0.1 or above.
On a home screen the widget displays the date and then below it, the year of the event and the first few words about what happened.

The widget accesses Wikipedia for its information. By default it shows today’s date but you can click on the date at the top and change it to another date if you like.



If you find something particularly interesting  you can share it with your friends through Bluetooth or various social networking sites.
Having this widget on your Android device will present you with a new bit of historical information every day on your homescreen.
