Android widget of the day: Audioguru

I think just about every Android device, be it a phone or a tablet, has some sort of basic audio up-down button. This widget gives you direct access to control the audio volume of various aspects of your device, like the voice, media, ringer, alerts, etc. You can even create Work, Home and other profiles, and set up times of the day when the audio settings should change between those profiles.

Audioguru is free on Android Market.

You can set it up with a choice of four styles: Audioguru (large), Audioguru (small), Audioguru (mode), Audioguru (profile).  These styles take up different amounts of room.

 

Install the widget following our guide.
Click on the widget to get to the settings page and set the volume for Voice, Media, Ringer, Alerts, System and Alarm.



Click ‘Mode’ if you want to change the mode of your device to Normal, Vibrate or Silent.



The widget has five customizable profiles: Auto, Normal, Work, Home and Sleep. So let’s say that at home, you want the media volume up high and alerts and alarms low. Set this up in the Home profile and when you get home, choose your audio Home profile and those pre-chosen settings will be activiated.



If you’re too lazy to change the volume settings often, go for the ‘Auto’option. This advanced setting lets  you to set up changes to the audio settings according to the hours of the day. With this setting you basically color code your normal, work, home and sleep audio settings in a table of times. Each profile has a different color and you assign them all to a time so that you don’t even have to change it from Work to Home when you walk in the front door.
