When you’re listening to music, playing games, browsing or even chatting with people, the mute button comes in really handy. I have always wished there was a mute toggle on my Android tablet and I’ve been able to create one with a tiny widget called Silentmode onoff.
Download it from Android Market for free and install it in the same way as any application. Add the widget to the home screen of your Android device using our guide on setting up a widget.
This will add a tiny widget to the home screen with three volume modes—high, medium and mute. Tap the bell icon in the middle of the widget to switch between these modes.
Tap anywhere else on the widget to launch the Sound and display settings of your Android device, giving you access to change the settings manually.
So with the Silentmode onoff widget it just takes one click to reduce the volume to half and two clicks to mute the volume.
