Prevent apps from auto syncing

Gmail, Twitter and Facebook apps on your Android device automatically sync updates using Wi-Fi and 3G and this drains your battery. You can stop these apps from syncing automatically to save your battery life.

You need to disable the auto-sync option to prevent apps from auto-syncing.

Open Settings from the Menu.

Go to Settings and then Accounts and sync.

Under Accounts and sync, go to General sync settings and disable Auto-sync.

Once the Auto-sync is turned off, applications will only sync when you manually choose to. For most apps that mean that the option to sync will be provided each time you open them. If your accounts that are tied to these apps have a lot of activity then turning off the Auto-sync will increase the longevity of your battery.
