Taking screenshots on Android tablets the easy way

I had to download the Android SDK and its half a dozen components and plug-ins, just so that I could take screenshots with the old G1 mobile. When I got my Android tablet a few weeks back I thought I’d have to do the same thing but I’ve found  a much simpler way.

Android tablets have a notification area on the top of screen, with icons to display Wi-Fi range, battery status, clock, volume up/down, menu and back button. If you’ve been wondering what the little eye icon in the notification area for then I’ll tell you! It’s for capturing screenshots from your Android tablet screen, in just one click. 


 
Open the page you want a screenshot of and click on the eye icon. The image will be saved to your SD card by default and can be accessed from the gallery or file browser. 


 
If you don’t have an SD card in your tablet you can change the settings to save the images on the local disk. 


 
Go to Menu and open the Picture Capture application. Tap on Select the default storage device option and choose the Internal Flash to save images on the local disk. 


 
If the tablet is connected to an external hard disk or USB flash drive, then select the option USB Storage. 


 
You can also set a timer to capture images after a delay. Go to Select delay time to pick the time interval to capture the screenshot later.

So, there you have it … no SDK, no java applet for cloud apps, it’s as easy as tapping on the screen!
