I use the Google Map Navigation app on my Android tablet regularly for getting traffic and route updates, and here is how I’ve created navigation shortcuts on my home screen for my frequently used routes.

Tap and hold any blank area on the home screen to open the Add to home screen window.

Your current location will be the starting point by default and you need to type in where you want to end up in Destination.
Tick your mode of travel and select a Shortcut name for your route.
Choose an icon like home, office, play (etc) for the home screen shortcut and Save.

A GPS icon will now appear on the home screen.
Tap it to open the route in Google Map Navigation. It has handy options such as traffic updates, satellite view, alternative routes, and search a location.
By saving your route right on the home screen you can save a bit of time fumbling around on your scooter … not that I’d recommend using your device and scooting at the same time!
