I installed a new browser on my Android tablet and prefer it over the default browser, but every time I tapped on a bookmark shortcut saved on my home screen, the website would open in the default Android browser. It was irritating so I decided to clear all defaults. Here’s how I did it.
The default behavior of Android happens not just with browsers but with a lot of other apps. For example if you have two or more applications which you can use to send and receive SMS, email, or play music, the default app that came with Android will be the one that is used by default. You can change or clear defaults using these steps.

Go to Menu > Settings > Applications.

Tap Manage applications and it will open the list of all apps installed on your device.

Select the application that you want to alter so that it’s no longer the default. Tap to open.
Scroll down and tap on Clear defaults.

The next time you do something that would have normally launched that application by default; you’ll get a pop-up asking if you would like to set a new default. The notification will offer a list of apps that can be selected. Select the one you want to set as the default any and tick Use by default.
You can also leave the box unpicked if you use multiple applications for the same task and would like the option to choose instead.
