Android game of the day: Take a seat in an air traffic control room

The planes fly in from all over the screen and you have to keep them under control and guide them to the landing area.



Android Marketplace has a free lite version of Air Control with ads, and a USD 0.92 version that has more maps and game modes.

There are two different colored planes and green helicopters with different landing strips and helipads.
What makes this game interesting is that planes have to land in an order of their color or type.

Swipe your finger or stylus to sketch a route between the plane and the airstrip. The aircraft will turn white if it detects your path for landing.

It’s not as easy as it sounds as there are extreme conditions, and many planes flying in from all sides, all fighting for the landing space at the same time. Not only do you have to direct planes to their appropriate landing zones quickly, you also have to stop them from colliding with each other.

An exclamation warning sign will pop up from the sides warning you that  a new aircraft is about to come onto the scene. Similarly, aircrafts will turn red and proximity warnings will appear when aircraft get too close.

Air Control shows the list of top scorers and allows you to submit your scores so that you can rate your performance against others.

The graphics are good and the game play is quick and exciting. You can also increase or decrease game speed to pump up your adrenaline levels, or makes it playable and fun for younger players. All in all, it’s a great way to beat the Monday morning blues … not that I’d be playing games at work … oh wait, that is part of my work .
