Android app of the day: Power Manager

If you use your Android device for long hours and are looking for a simple app that will manage the power usage of your phone and extend the battery life, the Power Manager app is your answer.

This app is free on the Android Market and requires Android 1.0 or up.

This app allows you to select from a choice of four profiles, i.e Battery Powered, Low Battery, A/Cpowered, and Computer powered. The Battery Powered and Computer Powered profiles allow you to customize the screen timeout, the brightness, the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings. Not only this, you can even decide whether to enable or disable the GPS settings as well, depending on the Battery status.

The control panel that appears on the screen when this app is opened, allows you to simply toggle on/off the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS settings. You can use the ‘Monitor Active’ option if you want the app itself to manage the settings for you.

The ‘A/C powered’ profile can be activated when you are charging the Android device, this will automatically brighten up the screen and enable Wi-Fi. When you are using the USB, the ‘Computer Powered’ profile can be used.

This app differs from the Battery Booster app in having different profiles for different times of usage, and it provides an easy way to switch profiles, making it user-friendly. If you find your Android device running out of battery too often, this app would be a good choice.
