The Shead Spreet Lite app is a very simple alternative to MS Excel providing quite a lot of functionality for an app designed and maintained by a guy named Keith … don’t you just love open source?!
You can view, create and edit limited Excel files quite simply using this app. Let me just clarify that … they must be .xls or .xlt files, the new .xlsx format is not supported.
The Shead Spreet app has two versions, Lite and Pro. The pro version costs USD 3.99. Though all features are fully enabled in the Lite version it restricts the number of rows and columns to 10x10. You can download the app either from
. The app requires Android 1.5 or above.

Any file you use in the app can be exported in a variety of file formats like .xls, .txt, .csv, and .html etc.

The Shead Spreet is like any other spreadsheet. You can insert, delete or sort columns and rows.

You can use the app to scan and insert barcodes, location, Timestamps etc.

Shead Spreet Lite has a lot of customizable features like changing the default text size, cell padding, and column width, etc. You can also change the default color of cells, text, number, and grid, etc.
The app also has a ‘Navigator’ tool which is useful if you are using a small screen device. It zooms in and out to view larger and smaller areas.
You can create charts from Shead Spreet data including all the standards like pie, bar and scatter. Charts can be saved for importing into other programs and they can also be sent as email attachments.
If you’re going to use this app on a frequent basis then you can setup quick access with a status bar icon.
Shead Spreet Lite will open xls files from your email attachments, and then you can edit and email them back. Very handy.
