Word games are proven to improve language efficiency. This app is hardly likely to help you in this regard though … it’s a cheat’s app for scrabble. Enter the letters you have, what’s available to use on the board, and Scrabble Helper will show you what the possibilities are.
The Scrabble Helper app is free on Android Market. You can also download the app from AppBrain. The app requires Android 1.5 and up.
Start by entering in the letters you have on your rack in the ‘Rack Letters’ section. You can enter up to 10 rack letters. You can also add blank letters in the ‘Rack Letters’ field. You can click on ‘Find words’ at that point, to see what words and combinations you can make just with the letters on your rack.
If you want to make your move more complicated, use the ‘Board letters’ field as well. This allows you to enter a maximum of four letters that are usable on the board. The app will add them into the mix and see what other words are possible.
You can sort your words choices by Length, Score, First, Last, Second or Second last.
In Preferences you can set the minimum and maximum length of words and how many word options you want displayed.
You can also highlight the color of Board and blank letters, making them easier to see in the results.
If you’re playing against someone who is particularly picky on their spelling, mind that you select the suitable dictionary. The app supports three dictionaries: SOWPODS (International), TWL (USA) and ENABLE (Enhanced North American). The words it will display really depend on the dictionary you select.
To get quick access to Scrabble Helper you can use the status bar icon.
When you’re at a loss for words when you’re playing Wordfeud, Wordsmith, Scrabble, Droidword (etc), Scrabble Helper will get you back in the game.
