Aldiko has an impressive collection of books, some free and others for sale, and it also doubles as an eBook reader. So with this app you get access to browse and download books from their collection and then read them.

Aldiko has an iBook like interface that resembles a bookshelf which displays recently read books arranged on the top shelf and other books you’ve downloaded on the other shelves. Your book collection can be sorted by title, author, ratings, date of download and tags.
You can browse thousands of books of the Aldiko network from the Download books option. The entire online catalog can be searched by options like free public domain books, free original books, O’Reilly eBooks, romance books, etc.
These categories can be further searched by popularity, recently added, author, categories and languages etc.
If you like a book you can download it from the online catalog and it will be added to your bookshelf. If you’ve already got eBooks in ePub format then you can import them.
It’s easy to open downloaded eBooks by tapping on them. Aldiko also provides a lot of customization options such as flicking pages by sliding your finger left or right on your screen. You can also adjust the brighness by tapping up and down on left side of screen.
Aldiko allows you to add bookmarks so that when you come back to the app and your eBook you can continue reading from where you’ve left last time. It also has an integrated dictionary and lets you search an eBook. To make reading as pleasurable as possible you can set the font size, margins and spacing, etc.

Once you have an Android tablet there’s really little point in getting an eBook reader as well, especially with apps like Aldiko available.
