If you need a very straight forward personal organizer app for your Android device, take a look at Jorte Calendar. With the convenience of being able to sync with Google calendar, and a clean and easy to read interface, this calendar app ticks a lot of boxes.
Grab it for free on Android Market, install it, open it and then choose your preferred mode: Google Calendar or Jorte Calendar. TheGoogle Calendar mode synchronizes with your Google Calendar, meaning that you can update your Google Calender from any device and it will sync with the app on your phone or tablet.
For quick access you can add the Jorte Calendar widget to your home screen. The Jore Calendar supports scheduling tasks or events, CSV file output, and importing data from your Google Calendar.
Slide the calendar left and right to go to switch between months.
Click on a date in the Calendar to set a new event, task or Memo.
You can change the status of a memo to ‘Important’ or ‘Completed’.
Jorte shows Monthly or Weekly display. Click ‘Refill’ from the Menu to check out more Calendar format options.
To setup your Jorte Calendar to be more personalized you can change the style.
You can import or export a list of existing appointments or to-do’s from a CSV file, but in my opinion, syncing with a Google Calendar is the easier option.
Go to “Settings” if you want to get more control over the way you view the calendar.
For a solid back up you can save the Jorte Calendar to an SD card.
Another couple of nice features are that important items are in red and lower priority items are in blue. There’s also an interface to add in public holidays by country.
All in all this is a solid calendar with a built in task manager and Google sync, with a clean interface that has sensible but appreciable customization options. In short, it’s pretty darned good for a free calendar app.
