I am introducing you to a new wallet. The wallet doesn’t have a money clip to hold your cash, nor room to keep your credit cards. Instead it is a simple app to keep all your personal and business data safe … in theory.
The WalletPro is designed to store your sensitive data like passwords, account numbers, financial data, etc.
WalletPro is available on Android Market for USD 5. If you wanna know how it works you can install the Walletpro Demo version for free, which is also available on Android Market. The WalletPro Demo doesn’t have the full set of features.
To set it up, open the app and click on ‘Add New wallet’. Fill in your details and select an image for the icon for the app … they’re all designed to hide the fact that the app contains sensitive info.
Once you’ve created the wallet the icon you chose will be on your Android device and you have to enter the password every time to open your wallet.
Open the app again and click ‘Add new item’.
Cards, Computers, Finances, Other, personal and My templates are the main categories in WalletPro lists. Each category includes sub categories too.
How to store information in a wallet is simple, for example, the category ‘Card’ includes ID card, ISIC card, Membership card, Social Security card and Calling card. Click on any of the icons and you will be directed to a page where you can enter all the details and save.
When you click on a saved item you can see all the information you’ve added.
The category ‘Computer’ includes Email, Hosting, internet Settings, Network, Software Serial number and Web site.
When you want to store any details about your Bank Account, Investment/Stock, Loan/Mortgage, Amex card, Cirrus card, Visa card, Master card and credit card, go to ‘Finances’.
You can use the category ‘Other’ to add the information about Events, product Serial numbers or Hotel information.
‘Personal’ is where the app makers suggest you to save Voice mail codes, Cell phone, Contact, Personal insurance and Notes.
A Wallet by default has a number of pre-created groups but you can also add your own groups.
Now in theory I really like the idea of this. Having access to this sort of information in such an organized way is very appealing, but I can’t help but feel wary of an app that just relies on a password. How secure is it really?
