If you have an annoying sibling at home, who’s always meddling with your Android device, here’s an idea that should stop them from tampering with it: use an Android app that needs a password to unlock the screen. The Hidden Lock Lite is one such app that lets you customize the way you unlock your screen.
This app is free on the Android Market and requires Android 2.1 or up. The pro version costs USD 0.99 and has many customizable features, like changing the lock icon, locking the device when put to charge, and more.

Once the app is installed on your Android phone or tablet you can activate or deactivate it with just a click.

As I mentioned in the beginning, this app offers three different ways that you can set up a lock.

The hidden Lock pattern is my favorite one. If you’re using this one to unlock your screen, you need to remember the position of the lock on the screen. When you tap the screen in that particular spot, the red colored lock icon appears on the screen and then when you tap on it it turns green, and the screen gets unlocked. I liked the way in which the icon changes, it’s really cool.

If you find it difficult to remember the position of the lock icon, and just want to have a PIN number, then you can go for the Hidden PIN option.
If you choose the Hidden Shake option, then you have to shake your Android device to unlock it; the trick is that you set the speed at which you shake it. I’m guessing this would be easier to use on an Android phone than on a tablet. This is perhaps the least reliable as a security lock; surely a few minutes of shaking at various speeds will crack it in the end?

The app offers many options to customize your device’s settings when it is locked; with more in the Pro version.
I was really happy to discover this app; it will help me prevent my pesky sister from prying into my phone.
