Android app of the day: Clearing cache files made easy

There are lots of reasons for cleaning up cache and history files, mainly related to security, privacy or space on the internal memory. This app makes it either a one tap job or even something you set up once and then have the app work automatically in the background.

This app is free on the Android Market and requires Android 1.6 or up. The pro version of this app costs USD.99, it’s ad free, and has more auto clear interval options in it.

After you tap on ‘Cache Cleaner’ from the main menu you get a list of the apps on your device and a breakdown of the amount of cache they are using. I forgot to take a screenshot before I cleared the files, so the image above just shows them all as ‘0’! Tapping on the ‘Clear all cached files’ tab will clear the cache files of all the apps at once, or you can search for a particular app, and clear just its cache file, by tapping on the little bucket icon to the left of the app name.

Back at the main menu if you click on ‘History Cleaner’ you get a list of all the apps that maintain browser history and you can tick the ones you want to clear and then tap ‘Clear selected histories’. In the ‘Settings’ you can set the app up to auto clear the cache and browsing history at specified intervals. You can also chose to have the app notify you on startup if there are cache files larger than 500KB.

This app can save a lot of time, not to mention space on your internal memory.
