Stop motion photography can create magic on the big screen, but it requires a high-end camera and skilled photographers ... or does it? With the Android StopMotion app you can create stop motion films of your own.
This app, especially the free version, isn’t gonna make you into the next George Lucas but it’s good for a bit of fun.
Install the Stop Motion Lite free version from Android Market and tap on Capture New tab to capture a new video. Don’t forget to adjust the settings like playback rate at a particular frame per second in the lite version. The paid version also allows you to set the video resolution, but in the lite version the resolution is preset at 176x144.
Set up the scene you want to shoot. Inanimate objects, Lego or playdo work well. Tap on Ready to shoot the first scene with the camera of your Android device.
Now re-arrange the objects in the scene and touch Video to shoot the second frame. Move objects between each frame to complete a scene for your mini-film to play out. The application window will update the memory remaining for the video playback during the shoot.
Once you’re done with shooting all the frames the Stop-Motion app will automatically merge all the frames captured by your Android device into a short Stop-Motion movie. This removes the need to get your head around a complicated video editor to get all of the frames together.
You can take a look at the videos you captured in the My Stop-Motions tab plus there are options to delete, rename and play the videos.
To publish your creation to your eagerly awaiting audience, Stop Motion has a one click button to upload your movie to YouTube.
