Mouseless Browsing is a Firefox add-on which sort of numbers URLs on web pages so that you can use a keyboard to type in the number of a URL to open it. There’s also a heap of keyboard shortcuts for other browsing actions.
Once you install this add-on you can see a small icon on the bottom right corner of your Firefox window.
If you click on the icon the Mouseless Browsing window opens. This is where you can see what the default shortcuts are and set up your own rules for id types, layout, URL rules and keys for keyboard shortcuts.
After you install the app, when you open a website you’ll see a number next to all the links. To open a link, press ‘Ctrl’ and the number of the link.
All of the other shortcuts will work as well like ‘0’ for address bar and ‘00’ for search bar.
It would take some time to get to know the keyboard shortcuts. For handi-capable people who can’t use a mouse, this add-on could be very helpful indeed. The biggest downside is that with all the numbers on the links, any website looks messy.
