Nokia sued G’Five not for copyright infringement, but for quickly claiming the title of third largest handset player in India. Nokia is still a dominant player in India, but its market share was reduced to half in a year thanks to the Shanzhai invasion. After runway success in the mobile phone segment, the leading Shanzhai maker is now planning to foray in the Indian tablet PC market and will kick start things with a tablet priced at a tempting price tag of USD 200.
The device can hit the market anytime as vice president Jaideep Chopra said: "We are ready with the product; we are just waiting for the right time to introduce the device. The pricing will be competitive with what is available in the market."
G’Five is in expansion mood and will open 500 new branches of its exclusive reatail store Mobispot, which currently has 10 branches. Chopra adds: "We will be launching 500 Mobispot stores across the country. We will focus not just on tier two and tier three but also metro cities with 20 stores in Delhi alone. These stores will sell only G'Five products including our lineup of mobile phones, tablets and laptops."
