Available sometime in the middle of next month, this 10 inch tablet runs Windows 7 on an Intel Atom chip and features a 3G SIM card slot so you can stay connected wherever you are. With an asking price of around USD370, I reckon a few punters will be sorely tempted, if only for the sports car red paint job.
The 10 inch resistive screen we can see here sports a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and apparently supports multi-touch. The processor is the netbook-class Intel N450 chip which features integrated graphics and reasonably low power for an x86 part. The device is fairly thick compared to say, the iPad, but that does allow for easy integration an Ethernet port, VGA out and a couple of USB ports.
Larger form factor x86 tablets running a traditional PC OS like Windows are seeing some decent availability in China at the moment, even if they're not selling in boatloads just yet. Now Haina Digital have joined the likes of Hanvon and LeiweiTec in placing their x86 bet on the tablet table. And it is clearly a gamble of sorts.
The momentum and growing maturity of Google's Android as a software platform and the widespread availability of compatible and very affordable ARM SoC platforms means that the smart money is steering clear of Wintel-based tablets. A price point of around 370 bucks is somewhat lower than most x86 tablets out there, honing in on what you might call an x86 pricing sweet spot.
