A few months back we featured a 10" Windows 7 tablet from Taiwan Shuo, or TESO as they are also known. Today we're pleased to be able to show you an updated version from TESO that packs an Intel N455 chip and looks a little sleeker and more polished than their first attempt.
The TESO 10" tablet as we've come to know it, was one of a slew of devices that popped up in Shenzhen around a month before Apple launched the iPad. We've since seen a fair number similar looking devices, including designs from
Hanvon,
Liweitec,
Cool Rui and
Anadem.
The key difference between
the original and the new iteration appears to be the addition of a newer Intel Atom N455 processor, which adds support for DDR3 to its low power Pineview platform. This might well improve both battery life and performance, if only by only a very minor margin; DDR3 uses marginally less juice than DDR2 - similar story in terms of memory bandwidth improvements.

The chassis however seems to be an improvement on the somewhat soap-bar shaped original. This new and improved device certainly looks the part with more sharply defined corners and an overall slimmer profile. No mention on price just yet, but I expect this one to fall in with other x86 Windows 7 devices and attempt retail prices upwards of 400 bucks. One thing is certain, Wintel powered tablets are not in the 100 dollar category!
