Video: EKEN M001 Android tablet for USD100

• OS: Android 1.6

If they can improve the battery life on the next revision of this, the M001 is going to be a very attractive device at this price point. The shanzhai players’ implementation of Android is getting better and better to the point that by the end of 2010 these devices will be able to give the iPad a real run for its money in the performance arena. The Android apps store has some ground to make up on Apple’s but it’s getting there. And of course, with this selling for a touch under USD 100 in China, the price comparison between the two devices is streets apart.

Cheers for the info. Yeah, as far as I know it's selling at the moment for RMB 680 in China, which is a touch under USD 100 when converted. Good to see it's starting to be made available online to global markets.

carefull people some of your tablets will get confiscated by US customs as these clones do not have written permission from microsoft to have word, excel, power point (clone DUH) im just going to wait till a company that does things "LEGALLY" starts selling them here
the rest of you good luck trying to get off the bad guys list with US customs and federal charge,includin g the US POSTAL SERVICE i wonder if PAY PAL knows they are contributing to FRAUD against a patented giant like MICROSOFT??
dont mean to scare anyone, but be careful what you buy , from whom , and under what conditions, as your crediit cards are registered in every transaction

Maybe I´m wrong but, this device comes with Documents To Go, not with MsWord, MsExcell, MsPowerPoint. Ops it´s comes with PDF reader to.

Android is open source. Microsoft doesn't have a darn thing to do with it. There is no Word or Excel or any other MS crap on it. This is also not an iPad knock off as I have read from people. Google Linux. Google Android. Slate plus Android OS does not equal Mac or MS. It equals a slate running Android. There is a world beyond MS and Mac. A really grand one where people are free.
